To find out about pollution, first let’s look at a plant. A plant has roots underground that keep the plant in place and take water and nutrients from the soil. Then, a plant has a stem. The stem caries water to the leaves .The leaves have a lot of cells in them. The leaves take energy from sunlight and also they take in carbon dioxide and turns it into a special sugar, which helps the plant grow. Plants are important to us because they take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. This process is called photosynthesis .Trees are plants too, but their stems are called trunks and trunks are covered by bark .But people cut down trees to make paper and the oxygen is now dirtier.
Sit still for 1 minute. In that minute millions of trees were cut down .Trees are used in many ways once cut down .The trees are used in making paper, furniture, wooden carvings, wooden toys and log cabins. About a third of all trash that is dumped is made of paper. But you can recycle paper .Since paper is made from trees and trees are living things so you can recycle them once. So if you have a piece of recycled paper you can’t recycle it again. There’s 3 types of pollution .One is air pollution. Air pollution is caused by smoke from factories and cars. The second type of pollution is land pollution .Land pollution happens when people dump trash on the ground .The trash goes into the soil .Plant roots may get caught inside a bottle or another piece of trash and the plant will not be able to grow .The third type of pollution is water pollution .Many factories dump harmful chemicals into a river or a stream .Also oil spills happen in the ocean and seas sometimes .Water pollution is very bad because when the water evaporates it takes the chemicals with it .If the chemicals evaporate with the water it may cause a acid rain. Acid rain is bad for trees because trees need clean water to live. Pollution is very bad for our earth. You can help stop pollution. You just have to believe in your self!
